FAVORITE LOCAL CHARITIES:

The YES Institute is an organization  which provides education, initiates dialogue and creates support systems for all youth in Miami-Dade schools, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students.  Through reaching out to communities of faith, to parents, counselors and medical & health professionals, the YES Institute fosters an atmosphere free from discrimination, violence and suicide in which all youth may exercise their right to develop as healthy individuals.

Shake - A - Leg  Academy
in Coconut Grove, an organization that makes water sports universally accessible to people with disabilities and to inner-city youth.

The Light the Night Walk is an event which will take place on September 16th to unite, celebrate and commemorate the lives of those touched by cancer. Funds raised will support the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  All donations made through the Yoga Grove's Happy Hour class to (attorney & yoga student) Michelle Otero's walk have been matched by her law firm !!! 


YOGA RESEARCH & EDUCATION:

Yoga Ed develops health & wellness programs and materials that utilize the psychological, emotional and educational benefits of yoga and creative play.   This program distributes them to children, teachers and parents through schools and communities nationwide.


Yoga Finder is a great place to search for yoga classes in studios, gyms & clubs in cities all over the world.  Good for travel, or for a move.


JOURNALS & BOOKSTORES:

Yoga Journal  is always filled with glossy photos, thought-provoking articles, and hip reviews of music, literature & art.  Each issue focuses on specific poses, delicious recipes and remedies (both ancient and cutting-edge), and highlights a particular city from the yogi's point of view.

Yoga International Magazine is published by the Himalayan Institute, based in Honesdale Pennsylvania, with well-written articles that balance current issues and ancient viewpoints.
 

Boulder Bookstore is a cool, inviting bookstore in beautiful Boulder Colorado, as you may have guessed. 

The Boddhi Tree is an amazing place on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, stocked with intriguing products, music & books that appeal to students of yoga, philosophy and ancient disciplines, among other subjects.



YOGA TEACHERS & STYLES:

Pure Yoga Rod Stryker has distilled the essence of the yoga tradition to create Pure Yoga, which aims to inspire and empower us to create and enjoy richer, more rewarding lives as individuals and community.  Pure yoga provides knowledge, wisdom and tools to guide us to our full physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual potential.

Lino Miele's website based in Rome, is dedicated to the Astanga Yoga method exactly as taught by his guru Sri K Pattabhi Jois. When in Rome do as the Roman Ashtangis, and practice at his studio.

Ashtanga this is a super-informative website which describes the origins and legends of Ashtanga Yoga, and has newsletter service to keep subscribers informed of events all over the globe.

Astanga Yoga Research Institute's official website: 
With simplicity  and elegance it describes the tenets of Astanga yoga in its most traditional interpretation.  It keeps us informed of milestones, events, publications and projects.

Jivamukti Yoga, founded by Sharon Gannon & David Life, is headquartered in New York City, and is one of the most popular and influential studios in the country.
