Mysore Class:
Even if you have been practicing for many years, you'll soon discover that self-guided practice will bring you deeper inside yourself than guided classes, helping you to merge all the limbs of Ashtanga Yoga, such as the physical postures (asana) the control of the breath (pranayama), and concentration (dharana.) In a typical Mysore class, each student progresses through the set series of postures up to the point where the teacher deems appropriate for that individual. You will learn the series by repetition and by following cues from the teacher, who circulates around the room, assisting each practitioner individually, either by verbal instruction or physical adjustment. This is the traditional style that Ashtanga has been taught in Mysore, India for over 60 years by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. Novice and advanced students of the Mysore style work side-by-side, making this an inspirational and energetic way to develop the practice.
